Who's Afraid of Stuttering?

Australia · CEU points & talks · Psychologists

Speech Therapist, Tanya Lowenstein, poses the question “Who’s afraid of Stuttering?” Many parents and therapists feel strong emotions towards stuttering. Stuttering may be a long term condition, it may result in very slow progress and it may require the family to make some changes that might not be easy to make. Tanya’s short clip reminds all of us as healthcare workers, parents, teachers and psychologists, of the importance of not under-reacting to reports of stuttering but rather referring the child as soon as possible to ensure they receive early intervention. Tanya has a brilliant talk discussing stuttering in further details, if you are interested in learning more you can check it out here. - Tegan
