Working with Emotions, Life Events, and Underlying Beliefs - Stage 3 & 4 of cognitive behavioural therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E)
Australia · CEU points & talks · Psychologists
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) is the leading evidence-based treatment for individuals across the spectrum of eating disorders. This advanced training focuses on Stages 3 and 4 of the CBT-E model, guiding psychologists through the final phases of treatment: addressing maintaining mechanisms, strengthening emotion regulation, and preparing for long-term recovery.
This talk explores the deeper psychological work of CBT-E, including the examination of core beliefs, life events, and emotional processes that drive disordered eating behaviours. Participants will also gain practical strategies to support clients through feared food exposures, body image work, and the challenge of relinquishing dietary rules. The final stage centres on consolidating progress, planning for relapse prevention, and facilitating a thoughtful and empowering end to therapy.
Whether used as a standalone training or as a continuation from earlier modules on CBT-E, this presentation equips clinicians with advanced tools to support lasting recovery in clients with eating disorders.
